Welcome to the Summer Term
This tern we have the theme of 'Journeys'. We will be observing as the tadpole takes it journey to becoming a frog. We will be taking trips to the pond and exploring the field. We will be sharing stories and rhymes of journeys on buses, trains, planes and cars. We will also look at different ways of travelling; refining our hopping, jumping, scooting and running.
Welcome to the Spring Term 2017
This term we are going to be talking about our homes and our families. We are going to explore the construction at Nursery and build houses. We will investigate all sorts of materials; how they feel, what they smell like and what we can make them do! We will enjoy having tea parties in the brick house and acting out the story of the 'The Three Little Pigs'.
I am proud to say we observed the silence for remembrance day. We stood together outside and took the time to think about all the special people that help us. Well Done Little Gems I am very proud of you all.
We also celebrated Diwali the Hindu festival of light. We tasted Samosas, Chapatis, we made and ate Raita which is a yoghurt, mint and cucumber dip and dipped in Poppadoms. We also made patterns using paint to signify the Mendhi hand patterns the women use to decorate their hands during this festival. What a lovely day we had.
We have had a very busy half term. We have welcomed many new children, We carried out home visits first and then the children visited the nursery before starting their sessions. I am proud to say the children have settled well and are making full use of their environment.
We will be celebrating Pancake day and Chinese New Year this coming week. I am very excited.!We have been busy in our cooking sessions. We made a gingerbread house as part of our 'Homes' topic then enjoyed tasting it at snack time. The children said it was "Yummy".
We made vegetable soup this week. The children helped with the preparations and then enjoyed the fruits of their labour at snack time.
