Week Ending 24th April

A lovely start to the summer term, the sun has even started to make an appearance! We are looking at diary entries in English and enjoying reading The diary of a Killer Cat. In Maths, we are continuing our work on fractions, this week we have been finding fractions of amounts. We have also been busy looking at shadows in Science and have been experimenting with making our own shadow puppet shows.

Another busy two weeks, the children have been working with money, both adding and subtracting using coins and notes. We have started to read Matilda and are aiming to write a newspaper report based on the book. In History, we have been looking at the Rotten Romans. Children have been investigating what life would have been like in England during the Roman invasion.

Almost the end of term already! This week we came second in the trust sports event ! The children have been making structures in Art and have written newspaper reports in English. These last two weeks have been packed with learning. The children really enjoyed learning about the rainforests and why they needed saving. We have located them on a map and have started to research the animals that live there. In English, we have finished reading Matilda and the children have written formal complaint letters about Miss Trunchbull. Maths has been all about statistics. The children have been working interpreting data and drawing their own pictograms and bar charts.

Week Ending 26th June

Wow! Such a busy two weeks! We have enjoyed sports day, assessment week and a trip to Whipsnade Zoo! Sports day went very well and the children enjoyed the obstacle race, sprinting and a longer distance race. The children took assessment week in their stride and knuckled down. They have shown such good progress throughout this year, they should all be proud of themselves. The Zoo trip was fabulous. We saw so many animals that link to our Rainforest topic, we will continue to study these animals in the coming weeks.
