Autumn Term
Week Ending: 10.10.25
Over the past two weeks, we have immersed ourselves in the wonders of Autumn, exploring its many facets with enthusiasm and curiosity. Our journey commenced with an investigation into the seasonal changes occurring in our outdoor environment. The children enthusiastically collected leaves, conkers, pine cones, and sticks, which they transformed into beautiful autumnal pictures and sculptures through techniques such as leaf printing and conker paint rolling.
Following this, we delved into the fascinating subject of hibernation. Together, we discovered various shelters where animals seek refuge during the colder months and discussed the remarkable adaptations that allow them to survive the winter. The children actively collaborated in designing their own hibernation boxes, tailoring their plans to accommodate different species. They worked diligently to compile a list of materials needed for their creations, illustrating their designs with creativity and flair.
In a delightful hands-on experience, we also baked hedgehog scones. The children weighed and mixed the ingredients, rolled and shaped the dough, and used raisins for eyes, while forks fashioned the iconic spikes. To top off this enjoyable culinary adventure, they had the option to savour their scones with either butter or jam. This engaging exploration of Autumn has undoubtedly enriched the children's understanding and appreciation of the season's beauty and significance.

We are thrilled to announce that the children have settled in beautifully back at school! We are immensely proud of how they have embraced their routines, engaged in activities, and forged strong connections with one another.
Last week, we were inspired by the enchanting book “The Colour Monsters.” The children delved into the world of emotions and the colours that represent them, showcasing their creativity by bringing their own colour monsters to life. Painting was a particular highlight – the children demonstrated impressive skills in colour mixing with powder paints, mastering the challenging balance of consistency to realise their artistic visions.
Collaboration has also been at the forefront, as the children have worked diligently to share, problem-solve, and create together. Our first two weeks back have been outstanding, with the children enjoying learning new sounds in phonics and enthusiastically taking reading books home to practise their letter formations, enabling them to write their own names.
In addition, we have begun memorising a different poem each week, with recordings available on our class dojo page. We take immense pride in their efforts to remember and perform these poems. Here’s to a fantastic start to the term!
