Summer Term

Week ending 22nd May

It has been a busy few weeks in Rashford class and the children have been enthusiastic about all of their learning. In English, we read Quentin Blake's 'Mrs Armitage on Wheels'. We then used this as inspiration for our own stories about Mrs Armitage. We have been so impressed with their understanding of our history unit on flight. They have been fantastic at recalling so many facts. They particularly enjoyed learning about the first people to walk on the moon in 1969 and how that was also the year that Winhills School opened! One of their favourite things over the last few weeks has been completing their paper sculptures in Art. They worked in teams to create giant paper spiders that took over the classroom!

Please remember to send your child in with a water bottle and a sun hat every day. We look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 1st June.

Week ending 1st May

We have had a great start to the Summer term in Rashford Class. The children have got stuck back into their learning and have shown us some great understanding of what they have been taught. In Maths, they have been busy learning all about fractions and in English they have learnt how to write postcards and letters. They have been loving our Art unit on paper sculpture and have been creating some amazing 3D sculptures. In History, they have been developing their understanding of early flight and the story of the Wright brothers inventing the first flying aircraft!

Please remember to send your child in with a water bottle and a sun hat every day.
