Summer Term

Week ending 24th April 2026

Welcome back Year 4! I hope you had a lovely break and are ready for the last full term of the year. We are looking forward to some lovely weather so we can use our beautiful outdoor grounds.

Every fortnight, we will update this page with all the wonderful learning we have been doing.

This half term has got off to a fantastic start in Year 4! The children have been extremely busy and working very hard across all areas of the curriculum.

Week ending 15th May 2026

During the first few weeks back, the children have been focusing on their times tables in preparation for the upcoming MTC. Their scores have been increasing superbly and they should all be very proud of the progress they are making.

In English, we have started exploring our new text, African Tales, and have spent time learning about Nolwandle – The Girl of the Waves. The children have storyboarded the key events of the story, written detailed character descriptions and are now preparing to retell the story using their own characters and settings.

In Art, the children have been getting ready to create their own glue batik pieces. This week, they carefully traced their designs and are excited to begin the next stage of the process.

In Science, we have been learning about the seasons within our classification unit of work. During this, the children created their own informative posters to showcase their understanding of spring, summer, winter and autumn.

It has been an amazing few weeks in Year 4, and we must not forget the wonderful assembly the children prepared and performed for their grown-ups and the rest of the school. It was a fantastic performance enjoyed by all — the children should be incredibly proud of themselves. Well done, Year 4!
