Spring Term

Week Ending: 14.02.25

This week we have enjoyed the book The Tiger Who Came To Tea🐯

We have been learning about different animals by describing their features and matching them to the print. We have discussed what Tigers like to eat and learnt new words such as “carnivore, herbivore and omnivore”

We have developed our mathematical skills by creating ABAB patterns with orange and black cubes and being challenged further to recognise number and quantity.

We have developed our literacy skills by sitting with a friend to use our imagination to steer the story off in different directions using props. We have also retold the story using key events and main characters.

This week on Gems we have been focusing on the story Brown Bear Brown Bear, What Do You See? This helped us develop our skills in colour recognition and repetition of language.

We enjoyed a music and movement game in the small hall where we listened carefully when the music stopped, followed the instruction “find the mat with the blue horse, find the mat with the yellow duck” and moved carefully to the mat of the correct animal!

We have enjoyed going on a colour hunt in the garden, finding objects that are the same as the animals in the book. We also enjoyed finding the picture cards of the animals and crossed them off using our chart on a clipboard.

We have been developing our number recognition and counting skills using numicon too.

We look forward to what this week brings!
