Autumn Term

Information for parents and families

Week Ending 22.11.24

This week we have looked at the story of Jack and the beanstalk from the view of the giant. We have explored the different emotions felt by the giant and how he is misunderstood in the traditional tale. During our PE lesson this week, we also looked at different emotions as we based our dance around the seven dwarfs. The children really enjoyed creating the different emotions using their bodies, movement and facial expressions.

We tried porridge and different toppings, some people really enjoyed it and some were not so keen.

Edible Sparklers

Week Ending 01.11. 24

Halloween week has come to Einstein class. We started the week reading “Mrs Blackhat”, a which who likes the colour black and her spells go completely wrong. The children were using their phonic knowledge of blending and segmenting sounds to help them sort out real and fake spells. We had pumpkins in the tuff tray for the children to explore. It was decided that pumpkins are smelly and slimy. The children used a range of tools to carve and scoop them out.

Halloween Activities

Week ending 18.10.24

We continued with the autumn theme this week but looked at autumnal animals and learnt all about hibernating. We made our own hedgehog bread rolls, they were delicious and warm, just perfect for a cold autumnal day. The children read the ingredients, measured and mixed to make their own hedgehog roll each.  Throughout the week, we had lots of activities based around hedgehogs, cutting spines and making a spikey hedgehog, making a perfect place for the hedgehog to hibernate and playdough hedgehogs too.

It’s the start of our autumn topic this week. We have discussed different signs for autumn and have been outside finding them. As a result of this we have learn the words and their meanings ‘evergreen’ and ‘deciduous’. The children have created their own beautiful autumnal trees, by mixing a range of colours and choosing their own colours to create their tree.

Week Ending 4.10.24

This week the children have been exploring their emotions and feelings. We have worked hard to identify, and name our own emotions and those of the colour monsters. In Drawing club we have come up with our new colour monster and its design, colour and behaviour.

Week Ending: 25.09.24

We have stepped back in time and taken a look at ourselves as babies this week. The challenge was set to try and match baby photos with photos of the children now. Lots of similarities and differences were seen and discussed. We have looked and hygiene this week and different ways to clean ourselves. The children have been learning to wash their hands in the tuff tray, clean teeth in the water tray and to make teeth at the play dough table. All activities were inspired by our Drawing Club book this week which was "I don't want to wash my hands" by Tony Robinson.
