Week beginning 6th January
Welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
The children have come back to school amazingly! We have been very lucky to have our History Off The Page day this week and the children fully immersed themselves into the topic of WW2! They had the best time role playing an evacuee and attending a school in WW2. The teacher was very strict and a couple of children even had the cane! In the afternoon, they had their ration booklets and identity tags and they were tasked to complete their shopping list. They had 2 shillings to purchase everything they needed from the local shops. Most children also tried a new food- spam! They were surprised at how nice a spam sandwich tasted!
In addition to History off the Page, we also completed a Science day! We finished our topic of materials and their properties and completed different experiments focussing on hardness, transparency, conductivity and irreversible changes. The experiments were good fun and the children loved it!
Finally, the children enjoyed their first swimming lesson and their first dance and gymnastic lessons in PE. PE will remain on a Wednesday afternoon and swimming will be on Friday.
Please have a look at the pictures from our science and history day!
